Since its original inception in 1936 as the Southgate and Finchley Group of the Radio Society of Great Britain the aim of the Southgate Amateur Radio Club has been to hold meetings, bringing together persons interested in Amateur Radio or Electronics generally, and to foster the spirit of Amateur Radio.

We provide a friendly meeting place and forum where those with similar interests can share their experiences, discuss their problems and enthuse about their achievements. Our activities include talks on technical subjects, equipment sales, Radio Direction Finding hunts, contests, informal meetings and demonstration stations. This means setting up a Special Event radio station at the likes of museums, water or windmills, railways, scouting or youth events etc. where attempts are made to contact similar stations around the UK and Europe or even further in the world. Membership, currently about 40, is open to all who are interested in any of the many facets of Amateur Radio, our numerous and varied activities not being restricted to those who hold transmitting licences. Members range in age from youngsters to senior citizens. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
